Webuser Forums: Video display problems

I`m having problems with my laptop display,(after having to re-install Windows
using the pc makers recovery software). This is the second time I have done this,
the first time everything went fine.
Laptop is Evesham with 2mz Intel processor, 80gb HD. Running Windows XP.

I have a NVidia Geforce Go 6600 card. If I try to re-install the vga driver
on the cd that came with the computer, it loads the driver details, then goes
to a blue screen of death before rebooting Windows.
I think the card may have failed, although the hardware wizard detects it.

I have been happy to settle for the generic on board video for now, as I stopped playing games and just browse the web.
However, now when I boot, the screen is full of blocks and vertical lines, and
Windows finishes loading with 800x600 res, with 4 colours.
I cannot change this in Display Properties-it just jumps back to the above.
I have disabled hardware acceleration and write combining, and looked at the divx info, all to no avail.
Any help or suggestions greatly appreciated
