Does the computer see the network at all? Have you reinstalled the drivers for the wireless network adapter, or whatever it is you're using to connect?

OK OK I can't go any faster! aaaaaaaaaaaagh!

Thanks for your reply the pc as you suggest does not recognise the wireless network the only clue I have is in control panel, system, there is the following, Network adapters Nvidia with a yellow exclamation mark then it describes it's location and below this, this device cannot find enough resources that it can use If you want to use this device you will need to disable one of the other devices on this system
hope this means something to you thanks for your help
Tony

Does the desktop have wireless capability or do you connect using the LAN connection?

Right-click The newtrok connection in Device Manager and select Uninstall, then reboot.

G'day Ton2.

I think richard was asking if the belkin router is connected to the PC using LAN (hard wired).

With the problem you have is to stop windows trying to run the show.
Go to admin tools/services and change wireless zero config to manual NOT disable.
Then go to TCP/IP properties and set - use the following ip address followed by a DNS server addresses

Network adapters - Nvidia does it now have enough resourses.
Also Nvidia, what wording follows it briefly.
BTW how much memory does the computer have installed.

You need to find the software that is required for the Motherboard and install the LAN driver and any other drivers the motherboard may require.
The drivers will be on a CD that you may have got with the computer.
When the LAN driver has been installed the USB Wi-Fi device should then work, if not uninstall it and do a fresh re-install.

G'day Ton2.

You now have the Nvidia with out the yellow x mark (LAN installed)?
Now reinstall the Wireless drivers that came with the wireless PCI card or USB dongle.
I was under the impression they were already installed.
You can't install/uninstall a Router as such.

Sorry for the confusion Sandhound
I did uninstall the nvidia driver and the yellow ex mark went with it. I then reinstalled the drivers from the cd supplied(I assume that the correct driver is there)then the yellow ex. mark returned?
thanks again
Tony
