Laptop advice before I buy 1
      #395710 - Fri May 30 2008 01:53 PM

Hi,
Wanting to buy a new laptop soon have around £300 poss little more to spend, would only be for normal use IE ms office etc & internet , with holidays snaps & ipod etc. would need Wireless but I think they all do now? or a card slot as I have a slot in wireless care or usb netgear stick

1, Is everything Vista now adays? as I have not used it yet but my pc currently has XP? are they any good advantages for vista for my basic use for example?

2, for this money is it worth me looking at a brand new one? or a high spec referb from an ebay shop for example??

Any advice/ direction would be great.

Cheers

I bought this one recently:

http://www.ebuyer.com/product/139121

and been very happy. Problems I understand from other reviews on eBuyer being short battery 'life' after charge, but mine is always plugged in but otherwise nice little machine for the dosh.

Wireless ready (although you have to press Function + F1 to activate) and 2GB.

Not an expert, but it fitted the needs I wanted and I eBay seriously.

Also Vista vs XP - I have a desktop 'games' machine with XP and this laptop has Vista and I like both. Vista makes things a doddle, like connecting wirelessly etc, but I like the comfort of XP too.

No problems yet - wife has the slightly more expensive model and it is faster, but this does the job for me.

I loved my grandmother very much.......and she fetched a good price on eBay.
