Hi, It seems that my MS Word 2007 normal.dotm template is corrupt - I'm no longer able to work in any documents I open and the application crashes when I try to close it down. I found a site which suggested I enter 'winword.exe /a' in the Run box to check if the template was to blame and sure enough this opened a document which was fine. I was then advised to delete the normal.dotm template as Word would create a new one but this did not work. I then uninstalled MS Office 2007 and re-installed it using the disc which came with my new PC, however the problem is still there. Can anyone suggest anything I might do? Many thanks.
You may be best trying this in Safe Mode, Restart your PC and press the F8 key
Quit all instances of Word Click Start | Search | All Files or Folders. Click All files and folders In the all or part of name box, type global.dotm In the Look In box, select My computer Click More advanced options Check the Search System Folders and Search Hidden Files and Folders options Click Find Now to search for the file. For each occurrence of global template that appears in the Find dialog box, right-click the file and then click Rename. Give the file a new name, such as OldNormal.dotm or Normal-1.dotm. close Explorer Restart your computer Restart Word
