Drive space

I have just built a new computer with a 500 g/b hard drive and 1 g/b of ram I loaded xp pro and it has somehow partitioned the drive so it's only showing 131 g/b in my computer how do I get it to to load the full 500 g/b do I have to reformat and reload xp any advice appreciated

You'll be able to see the rest once you install Service Pack 2.

I have now got an internet conection and downloaded SP2 but it still only shows 131 G/B in my computer any other ideas greatfully recieved

Sometimes right-clicking My Computer > Manage > Disk Management, then right-clicking the ’unallocated space’ triggers the missing space.
