Passwords
      #395555 - Thu May 29 2008 09:57 AM

I have just ditched Norton as it was not finding as much as some of the free programs. The only thing that the Norton program did well was the automatic password fill in. I there another password program that will accept my passwords and fill them in automatically when a form or program requires them. I would prefer a free program as I am one of the poor pensioners.

I could not recommend more Keepass
http://keepass.info/

I have used it for ages and it is brilliant.

Hope that helps.

(And yes its free!)

Kind of, what you do is enter it into Keepass, then the URL and when you want your password and/or user-name you just drag and drop from Keepass to the form you are using.

If you want fully automatic password integration I recommend Roboform
http://www.roboform.com/
But Roboform has a limited amount of passwords it will save before you have to upgrade to pro (paid for version). I think if I remember rightly it saves about 30 passwords before it tells you to buy pro.
Roboform IS better than Keepass and is one click log in but Keepass is free all the way.

Try both and see which one you like best.

Thanks for that info. I have been using Robo for some years but find the limit of 30 is a bit restrictive, maybe I should use the pay one although it's against my thoughts but it's more efficient than dragging and dropping.

Personally if I had loads of passwords I would spend a few pennies (Depends on how many pennies) on the upgrade with Roboform, but as I don't Keepass is fine to jog my memory when I forget a password/user name.

Firefox will, of course, remember all your user names and passwords and will automatically enter both user name and password when required by the site.

Do you know that we're all in line for succession to the throne? Really?
Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.
