      #394792 - Thu May 22 2008 10:35 AM

Pc is just switching off in the middle of something and rebooting or staying off and i'm having to big button it to restart.

Have got everest home edition and have checked the cpu temp and all looks fine (48-53). Also have ccleaner and have run that and avg anti virus and have done scans.

Have posted hijack this log if anyone has a chance to look at it and advise.

Hello jokerr65

Can't see any Malware in this log. Are you getting any error message on screen..?

The PC I'm on right now did have an issue of closing with a CHECKSUM error, simply changing the Battery solved my issue: http://www.hardwaresecrets.com/printpage/81/1

Did you install/uninstall around this time and may I ask about this entry: Google Updater Service

Please check for driver issues. Go to Start > Control Panel > System, select the Hardware tab, and then click Device Manager.
You are looking for one of the following symbols:

A black exclamation point (!) on a yellow field indicates the device is in a problem state. Note that a device that is in a problem state can be functioning.
A problem code explaining the problem is displayed for the device.
A red "X" indicates a disabled device. A disabled device is a device that is physically present in the computer and is consuming resources, but does not have a protected-mode driver loaded.
A blue "i" on a white field on a device resource in Computer properties indicates that the Use automatic settings feature is not selected for the device and that the resource was manually selected. Note that this does not indicate a problem or disabled state.

cheers ourwilly

Not getting any error messages at all, just switching off as if the plug has been pulled and doesn't come back on, however sometimes when i touch the power lead going into the back it starts rebooting so don't know if the psu is on its way out.

Do have one black exclamation point (!) on a yellow field when i checked and this is for a mobile phone connection by bluetooth, should i try reinstalling this or leave it as it is?

Also don't have any more detail about the google updater and do u think this could be deleted?

Thanx

Hello jokerr65

I would try fixing that driver issue by re-installing

Then open HijackThis again, select "Do a System Scan only" and place a checkmark in the boxes before the following entries:

O23 - Service: Google Updater Service (gusvc) - Unknown owner - C:\Program Files\Google\Common\Google Updater\GoogleUpdaterService.exe (file missing)

Close all other open windows and click on Fix checked, then exit HijackThis.

It this doesn't help things then the power lead may be a cause.
