msmsgs .Help Please

hi I've noticed since i installed sp3 that msmsgs is running in the background in the system configuration utility I've unticked the box but after a reboot its still running grrr

Just to clarify, is it msmsgs or msnmsgr that's running in the background?

hi fusion its msmsgs it would keep running in background after i unticked box in both system configuration utility and on the windows messenger where my buddy list is but funny thing is the dam thing is not running today ............

Lets hope it stays that way!

I also had a couple of 'abnormalities' since installing Service Pack 3. Mainly a couple of altered settings in Outlook 2003 but nothing to worry about.

hi fusion looked in system configuration utility today and the "msmsgs" is running again in background do you think if i uninstalled windows live messenger ran ccleaner(registry) reboot then make a fresh install of windows live messenger might be the answer ........

Try this Visual Basic Script file from Doug Knox.

. . . >> Remove Windows Messenger

It also gives manual instructions, but personally I'd use the auto version.

A 'Registry backup' is always preferable just in case.
