      #355628 - Mon Jul 02 2007 05:24 PM

help me i need help with getting command and conquer games to work on my network both games use ipx network protocal with one of the games red alert 2 we can play each other online in the internet online function but tiberium sun will not play online we have our own disks but i was informed that that two users from the same lan cant connect to each other so we decided to try a network game. so i went to the ea support page to get advise on network/lan games and i read there i needed to enable ipx protocal so i did on both machines and tested it with direct x and it worked but when we try to play each other using the network options we cant see each other in the one and only lobby there is(both games) do i need to change any settings on the games or firewall(i just turned the firewalls off to try playing after it did not connect the first time) maybe i need to change the router settings i not sure where to start please help

This one has been sitting for a while, but I noticed a few links using a Google Search. Sorry it links to other forums, but these people seem to have the same issues:

http://www.techspot.com/vb/all/windows/t-28910-Red-Alert-2-LAN-playing-problem.html

http://forums.techguy.org/games/467240-red-alert-2-problem-connecting.html

Not sure if they help, but might be worth a look.

i found the problem a small oversight

i had installed my game from the first decade compliation pack (all highest versiosn of the game)
and my mate had installed the game from a stand alone copy of the game the result waz his lobby window was listing users with the first version and my lobby window waz listing games with the latest version

i felt stupid when it took me 3 hours to find the solution and infomation after i had posted this post
soz for leaveing my thread unreplyed to for so long
