add ons disabled
      #394130 - Mon May 12 2008 07:59 PM

Hi
I ve got the usual menu bar etc above , then below them is a white
bar with ........ int exp is currently running with add ons disabled

try as I might I can t get add ons enabled
I go to u tube and the vids wont play ( i dare say that is related as they
play in firefox ok )

I go to tools and see the drop down "manage add ons " but the letters are
white and the link is dead.

My home page is the yahoo sign in page
but now when I bring up int exp I get a page
with this written on it..........

Internet Explorer is currently running without add-ons

All Internet Explorer add-ons, such as ActiveX controls or toolbars, are turned off. Some webpages might not display correctly.
To continue to your home page, click the Home button.
To browse using add-ons, close Internet Explorer and then start it again.
Check for the latest Windows updates.

How do browser add-ons affect my browsing experience?

I try that, click off the browser and turn on again but
Im still left with add ons disabled

the switch off seems permanent, I can t figure out how to turn
them on again !!

thanks for any comment

Are you clicking on the Internet Explorer icon on your Desktop or via the Quick Launch? If so, try using the the icon in your Start > All Programs menu.

If that solves your problem, it would indicate a corrupt short cut(s).
Return back to the icon in All Programs > Right click > Copy > Paste to Desktop (and Quick Launch if required).
Might be easier to delete the corrupt ones first.

Hope it works for you.

Thanks, you must be a computor genius
you ve figured it out in one

the quick start up was just the same,
then I went to the all programmes and launched from there,

Bingo, no white bar below the menu bar,
I went to U tube and the videos all worked

thats it, there must have been some corruption making
the desk top icon
thanks again for your help,

Ha ha . . . I've been called many things in my time but never a computer genius! Thanks for the compliment, but not necessary as I most certainly am not.

Pleased to have helped though

Just a quick note to second the thanks and praise! I was having a similar issue which was really doing my head in, but your advice saved me!

Think mine may have been caused by installing firefox 3 and setting it as default browser, which messed up my quickstart shortcut, although this may be totally unrelated??!!

Either way, alls well now so thanks again.
