Bose iPod speakers
      #393914 - Fri May 09 2008 10:48 PM

Has anyone out there got a Bose sound dock or heard one being used with an iPod?

I would like to get a decent sound dock for my nano and would like some opinions please. I used to have a reasonable hifi system (how old does that sound?) with some decent loud speakers because I enjoy music a lot. So moving with the times, I would prefer to get something that will bring out the best in the music and I know that Bose have a good reputation. Over to you...

Avoid BOSE if you can, you can get a lot more for your money from other manufacturers, may be a daft question if you're considering BOSE, but I'll ask, what's your budget?

Hello Mouse

I'd pay up to £250 perhaps a little more for a good quality sound. My daughter has a small Logik unit (about £40 it was) but it doesn't have a decent base sound to it, so I'd like something that will give a much richer sound.

I've got an iRhythms A303 dock which is excellent - I'm very happy with the sound quality and you can get one for about £70.

If you can track a store down its probably best to give it a listen first. Remember, 128kbps MP3s from an iPod are never going to sound as good as a CD - put some tracks on in a lossless format before you test, so you can get an idea of how good the speakers really are (you'll find that the iPod itself and the format and quality of the files are a major limitation on sound quality even if you get the Bose dock).
