Morning everyone...
Just wondering whether you think holiday and travel sites are still being misleading when it comes to fully delcaring how much things cost? The EU has slammed online travel sites for hiding the full cost of flights, making it difficult to know exactly how much a flight will cost once you add taxes and extra charges.
Have you had any bad experiences when the cost of a flight has suddenly doubled when you reach the checkout page? Which sites are transparent about pricing and which clobber you with hidden charges?
Please let us know your thoughts......
Thanks Daniel Booth Dep Ed

The king of the false advertising is RyanAir. The 'One penny' return fair I took last year to Dublin actually cost me £70. You only find that out at the end of the booking process. He tries to claim it's not his fault that we pay fuel surcharge, taxes etc. but that's hardly the point. If I take a bus ride from home to town I'm told up front it will cost £1.70. I know that includes the cost of fuel, maintenance of the bus, local taxes etc. I don't expect to get on the bus and then be asked by the driver for another 30p for the fuel surcharge and council taxes. It's high time these so called 'budget' airlines were told to quote the proper price up front.

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.

When an airline says that flights are 1p then that should be the price it costs you for that flight not 1p then a tax for this and a tax for that. Sometimes even the budget airlines are not the cheapest when you add all the taxes. Any company that advertises flights at 1p or £1 should be made to sell them at that price if they wish to lose money that is their problem.

I feel that they're better off being honest up front and telling you exactly how much the flight will cost, even if it is £70. I know that £70 for a flight is cheap anyway, so why try and con us with a ridiculous price? I would be far less inclined to use an airline/travel agent who did that to me in the future. Just repeat to yourself " There's no such thing as a free lunch"
The bargains which we have had in the past have been £10 each way rail fares from Darlington to London King's Cross, and that included reserved seating as well. All we had to do was book them well in advance. Same ticket on the day was £220 with no guaranteed seat!!!

I don't actually use the airlines' sites anymore, but instead use the flight search site, www.kayak.co.uk.
The price includes all the taxes and fees up front.
