Fix-It utilities Ver 7 and AVG Free compatibility
      #393505 - Sun May 04 2008 02:37 PM

I downloaded VCom, Fix-It Utilities 7.1.1.30 as it was offered free. I thought I would be able to speed up my computer (which is like walking through treacle sometimes)by tweaking it. However, I now see that it has anti-virus protection included. I am perfectly happy with my AVG Free 7.5. Will these 2 cause any conflict? Also does anyone have any comments about Fix-It? I see that a web-user review says version 8 can be very slow and this free one is the previous version. I'm wondering whether the fix-It will be more trouble than it's worth. I put it on defrag overnight and it only did 1%!

Any help will be gratefully received.

As far as I can see the free version 7 doesn't have anti virus protection included. You only get that with Ver. 8 Professional. (That's assuming you got yours from here. )

Is this the first time you've de-fragged your drive?

Hello again!

Well I did get the download from vnunet and I read the manual and help files first which says its got Antivirus, so I assumed it had it, but I think you are right because I can't find it now. Maybe the manual was for ver 8.
I do defrag regularly (every month minimum, sometimes more)which was why I was wondering whether there were any issues with the Jet defrag that Fix-It has. Also I use CCleaner and S & D Search and Destroy.
Thanks

If your normal defrag software works properly and the new one doesn't, I think you probably know what to do!
