Webuser Forums: Internet connection query/concern

Hi all,

I recently had a new motherboard fitted to my computer and since then have noticed a significant change when connecting to IE7

Previously, I had to log into my AOL account, giving me internet access. then I would open IE otherwise I would get a message stating that IE could not get an internet connection. Fairly straight forward I thought.

But now ( as my son noticed) when my desktop fires up, I can log straight into IE without having an internet connection via AOL !!!

This confuses, and worries me slightly as I thought I would have to have an active internet connection via AOL before being able to use IE

Am I being totally dumb here ( dont be scared to tell me if I am, I dont mind ) or is this something I should be concerned about ??
