Problem with opening programs while on AOL.
      #3928 - Tue Jul 29 2003 11:48 AM

Ok, heres the story.

I can open programs perfectly before connecting to the internet using AOL. Once I connect, I cannot open any other programs. I try to open them, and 5 minutes later (literally) they open up and I can open programs perfectly again.

This is getting extremely annoying.

I am running Windows XP Home Edition with all the latest updates installed including Service pack 1. The only thing not installed from the Windows Update site is .net frame version 1.1

I am running AOL 8.0

Thanks in advance.

I suppose the obvious conclusion to draw is that your processor is totally devoted trying to open your AOL homepage and therefore has no resources left for anything else. Have you tried Ctrl-Alt-Del during the load process so that Windows Task Manager can tell you what's going on? Have a look at the Performance tab and the CPU and Page File Usage to see if you've got anything left to open a new program.
