To eliminate spam from your hotmail and only receive emails from your contacts do the following.....
Options>>>More options>>> Under the "Junk email" secion click "Filters and reporting"
Under "Choose Junk email filter" Check the "Exclusive" part. Exclusive - Everything is sent to the junk e-mail folder except messages from your contacts and safe senders, Windows Live Hotmail service announcements, and alerts that you signed up for
Under the "Delete Junk E-mail" (Choose when junk e-mail is deleted) Check the "Immidietly" part. Immediately - Junk e-mail is deleted immediately
Now click "save"
Now the only emails you will get are the ones from the people on your contact list. EVERYTHING else is sent straight to your Junk folder and is deleted immidiately.
Gotcha! Thanks! Got to admit, I've never had any junk/spam mail in my hotmail account in eight years (is this a record!!) but I always like to learn and I'm sure your tip will be of great use to many others.
