Adobe Flash Player Installer
      #390941 - Wed Apr 09 2008 04:17 PM

The last day or so when I visit most websites I keep getting the 'yellow bar' at top of screen showing the following:

This website wants to install the following add-on:'Adobe Flash Player Installer' from 'Adobe Systems Incorporated'

I have visited these websites lots of times without having to install anything.

When I click on 'Dont Install' it goes away, until I visit another site.

How can I get rid of it, its annoying!

If you get a yellow bar i presume you're using Internet Explorer . The yellow bar's an I'E. security message that the sites you are viewing might require an ActiveX control in order to show all the content of that site. In this case it's Adobe's flash player ActiveX control. However , many ActiveX control's are malicious , so the yellow bar lets you decide if it's safe or not by giving you the option whether to allow it to install or not.

Are you having problems viewing flash content ? You need Adobe's flash player to do so. It may be that either , the flash player is not installed , is corrupt or out of date.

Click... here...to test your flash player. On that page , hover your cursor over the Adobe Flash Player "about" box and it will tell you what version you have. The most up to date version is 9.0.124.0 . If it's an earlier version than that , it's best to update.
The best way to do that is download and run the... Flash Player Uninstaller. This will remove all traces of earlier versions from your PC. Once you've done that reboot your PC and go... here...and install the latest version.

Brilliant! I`ve been having problems watching vids in IE7 recently, always being told to get the latest flash even though I thought I already had it.Last time I updated I never knew about the un-installer and never used it to remove the older version which, looking back, must have been the cause of the problem all along. Thanks to this thread I now have a fully functional IE7 again.
Thanks very much Fifeflyer

I did find that once I had used the un-installer ALL Abobe Flash was removed, including the plug-in for Firefox, which meant I went from not being able to watch videos in IE7 to not being able to watch videos in Firefox!Easy problem to solve though.I just downloaded the plug-in again without un-installing the Adobe Active-X for IE.To make sure all is well I have been to Adobe`s website and checked both installations which are now properly installed on my laptop.Gave me a bit of a fright though!
