Now that the EU had cleared the way for passengers to use their mobiles on board planes expect to hear comments like "We've just crossed over the Alps and should be touching down in ten." Do we really need to be in constant contact? Will you miss the peace and quite of a few hours without the use of your mobile?

I'm not a mobile user although I will miss the peace and quiet when use is permitted on planes. Have just returned from a holiday in the sun, snoozing by the pool, peace was shattered on more than one occasion by someone phoning home just to tell someone else the temperature and what they were doing. At least escape was possible, but on an aircraft? No Way!
Friend of mine travels regularily abroad on business, he's dreading this being allowed. On board an aircraft is the last place he can be without the office getting in touch.

Just think how much it costs to use your mobile abroad. Now imagine how much more expensive it will be on the plane !! I cant imagine many people will be using their phones on board flights, but it will probably be business people in business or first class using it most.

I am horrified at the invasion of the last place we are safe from cretins who cannot last 5 minutes without a phone fix. "I'm on a plane" - simply can't wait!

Should be interesting to see how many people actually use the function as everyone needs some down time
