Leif the Warrior Norseman had just returned to his village after fighting and pillaging only to find that he had been left off the electoral roll. So off he storms down to the polling station to confront the registering officer and asks why he had been left off the roll. The officer says "Just a moment sir I shall have check this with my assistant" so off he goes into another room, after checking the electoral roll the officer says to his assistant...." I do not know what happened there I must have taken Lief off my Census"

Sitting Bull has a bad stomach and visits the medicine man who cuts a thin strip of leather from a buffalo hide.
'Bite off an inch of this each day and chew it thoroughly for at least an hour before swallowing. Come and see me when you have finished the treatment.'
One week later, Sitting Bull is back in the medicine man's wig-wam.
'How are you feeling now?' asks the medicine man.
Sitting Bull replies, ' The thong is ended, but the malady lingers on'.
