First of all, before I begin, I wish to apologize to anybody who went out of their way to help me out, and did not receive confirmation from me that everything was okay. If it is any consolation, the advice of the members of this forum has, and always did, help me out greatly in my times of need.
I promise that this time, if I do receive assistance, I will let you know of all of the details after being provided advice. Again, you have my sincerest apologies.
Anyway, I have a bit of a problem. My computer, as of late, has been experiencing a severe case of slowdown, especially at startup. I strongly suspect that it was a result of my hard drive running out of space (my partitioned drive only had 11GB/6GB remaining on each partition, up until recently), but, after I had remedied that problem by clearing up 20GB of space, the computer is still acting slowly. I am wondering if any programs are running in the background that are slowing it down (especially at startup), so, I will post my logfile here:

I don't see anything in your log.
try running STARTUP INSPECTOR
it will tell what is running and whether it is required or not and allow you to disable it from startup.
Then :-
Download and scan with CCleaner - Starting with v1.27.260, CCleaner installs the Yahoo Toolbar as an option which IS checkmarked by default during the installation.
IF you do NOT want it, REMOVE the checkmark when provided with the option OR download the toolbar-free or Slim versions instead of the Standard Build.
- Before first use, select Options > Advanced and UNCHECK "Only delete files in Windows Temp folder older than 48 hours"
Then select "Cookies" Move any cookies you wish to retain, e.g. login cookies, in the left-hand window to the right-hand window by highlighting them and clicking the right arrow in the centre.
- Then select the items you wish to clean up.
In the Windows Tab:
• Clean all entries in the "Internet Explorer" section. • Clean all the entries in the "Windows Explorer" section. • Clean all entries in the "System" section. • Clean all entries in the "Advanced" section. • Clean any others that you choose.
In the Applications Tab:
• Clean all entries in the Mozilla Firefox Section. • Clean all in the Opera section if you use it. • Clean Sun Java in the Internet Section. • Clean any others that you choose.
- Click the "Run Cleaner" button.
- A pop up box will appear advising this process will permanently delete files from your system.
- Click "OK" and it will scan and clean your system.
- Click "exit" when done.
then DEFRAG your C:\ drive.
to help speed up your system.
then let us know how the computer is running.

Thanks, Bricat.
Anyway, I did what you said. I used the Startup Inspector to remove the following programs from startup:
- Zune Launcher - MSN Messenger - Adobe Reader 8.0 Updates
As for the other programs, I followed your instructions and removed everything listed, followed by a defrag and a reboot.
The computer appears to be running a tad faster now, but it's still moving remarkably sluggish at the start when I log into my account.
Would this, by chance, have something to do with the fact that before, I had only 11GB/6GB remaining on my drives? I have since tried to remedy that with two additional external hard drives (80GB and 250GB, respectively), even moving 20GB worth of data to the 80GB, and yet....it's still moving a tad sluggish. What do you recommend?

your best bet would be to post in the xp help forum.
your problem doesn't seem to be malware and this isn't my area of expertise. some of the more techie types in the xp forum should be able to help.
