Lovefilm....any good?
      #389214 - Sun Mar 23 2008 01:41 PM

Has anyone on here used Lovefilm? There was a card in my mag with a code for a 30 day free trial? There isn't a DVD rental shop near to me and this would be the ideal solution. I have a Nintendo DS and notice that they also rent out games for that.

Would it be worth giving it a try and has anyone had any issues with posting items back, like them getting lost?

Looking forward to reading any comments.

Yes used them in the past, only issues were of a couple of unreadable discs, however there is a reporting system on their site to get this resolved, so it's a case of waiting for a new disc. Other issue was when the trial ended, I got billed for a further month, so you have to time your cancellation right, if you don't want to continue.

I was only renting games from them at the time though.

If you're interested in taking them up I have a code for a 90 day free trial.

Thanks Mouse. Are you allowed to mix dvd rentals and games, or is it just one or the other?

If you want games, select Combination 2 with the 90 day free trial, also during the trial, don't change the package, otherwise you will get billed for the new package.

I was with with ScreenSelect who merged with Lovefilm and I continue to be a member. I think the service is great. The films are turned around really quickly, there's a massive selection and you can reserve films that are still on at the cinemas and get them added to your list when they come out on DVD. I've watched 372 films so far from there and experienced very few problems. Off the top of my head, I can only think of two discs that were unreadable, and when I had a disc or two delivered to the wrong address, they were quick to send me other ones after I had notified them that I hadn't received anything. Nice website too. From my experience, I would highly recommend them.

Ok, I am all up and running with the 90 day trial. Selected combination of DVDs and games. Added some titles to my list, all the DS games though say "reserve" next to them so we'll see.

Once it's all up and running, I'll post again with some feedback.

Thanks.

Heather.

If games say reserve, it means that they aren't out yet, or, they do not have them available to rent, they will come through.

Keep an eye on your end date too.

I have been with love film for about a year now and I must say it is great.
I used to be with blockbuster, but they wouldn't accept my debit card type for payment! So they lost a customer and Love film gained one.

I have only had 1 issue with love film where a disk I sent back was not received -- the customer services were brilliant, said they would find it and I have not to worry!

(The disk was found it was royal mail btw)

I would highly recommend them, I joined after a webuser review ages ago.

Well, so far so good. On my 3rd set of discs. The package I'm on allows me to have 2 dvds at a time.

The turnaround seems to be quick. I have been posting the discs back on a Thursday and getting my next set on the Saturday.

I have added a few Nintendo DS games to my list and they have moved towards the top now, so I'm hoping that I'll get those soon.

Not sure If I will stay on the same package when my free trial runs out, may downgrade it, not sure yet.

Would recommend them for now anyway!

I'm on the 2 discs per time and unlimited rentals per month, and the turn around has always been good- usually a couple of days from sending the old disks back we receive the new ones on our list.

I have not tried the games package so cant vouch for that one, but I cant see it being any different.
