sound issues?!?!?!

hi all
i am new to this and thought u guys might be able to help me

i rebooted my computer afew days ago
and my sound isnt working?
i think i downloaded all the nessecary drivers for my sound card which is a motherboard sound card (if that makes sense?)

the name of my motherboard is ECS 755-A2
VIA AC'97 AUDIO CONTROLLER seems to not be working?

if anyone could help me with this matter it would be greatly appriciated

Do you mean 'rebooted'? A reboot is simply switching it off and switching it on again. Have you been to this site to find your drivers?

i deleted the partition basically wiped it clean
then installed xp again
i have all the updates from microsoft too?

i have had a look does it matter which ones i should download?
or should i just download all the via ac97 codecs and stuff?

It's not that difficult! Go to this page and click on the link that says scan computer for drivers.

i have been on the website to scan the drivers and it says my drivers (for my audio) are fine? but there is a download icon next to it? i dont really want to pay 40$ or w/e it is to fix the issue?

i also have downloaded the driver on the first link and still dont work?
