Enter your Control Panel. If you are using Windows XP's Category View, select the Network and Internet Connections category otherwise double click on Network Connections. Then right click on your default connection, usually local area connection for cable and dsl, and left click on properties. Double-click on the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item and select the radio dial that says Obtain DNS servers automatically. Make sure the radio dial has the Green Dot in it!!
Then Do the following Disconnect from the Internet With all other Windows closed, including this one Go to START>>RUN>>type in cmd Hit OK At the prompt type in cd\ and hit enter
then type in ipconfig /release notice the space between g and /
Hit enter.
do the same for these commands.:- (in this order).
1.......Ipconfig /flushdns
2.......Ipconfig /renew
3.......Ipconfig /registerdns
then reboot your computer.
let us know how you go.

this can be a problem with NORTON. try this.
uninstall NORTON anti virus using the NORTON REMOVAL TOOL
see if it has fixed itself, then reinstall norton, or better still get a free anti virus HERE

try these :-
open your internet explorer then go to TOOLS then INTERNET OPTIONS then SECURITY and then uncheck the ENABLE PROTECTED MODE options then close and open your IE7.
or
To start IE7 in No Add-ons mode:
Right-click on the blue IE desktop icon and select Start without Add-ons
or
try uninstalling IE7 (which automatically returns you to IE6) and don't reinstall it, does this fix it?

how long ago did this first happen ?
if it's only been a few weeks :-
How to Start and Use System Restore
To start System Restore, follow these steps: 1. Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, and then click System Restore.
The first time you use System Restore, there are two options on the Welcome page: • Restore my computer to an earlier time • Create a restore point 2. Click Restore my computer to an earlier time and click Next.
A calendar appears. 3. In the calendar, choose which Restore Point to roll your system back to.(before your problems started) 4. Click Next.
You are prompted to close all applications before completing the Restore process because the computer will restart. 5. Upon completion of the restart, a confirmation screen appears. Click OK to continue using your computer.

Hi, this problem started last week. I took my system to a restore point earlier than that. But now once i log in, it still does not work. Dont even get the this page cannot be displayed message, its just a blank white screen with no text. There is even no text in the icon any along the bottom of the screen. Also my favourites, internet options buttons have gone, so i can no longer go into history, cookies etc. Thanks again!

Tried that, still no good.
I have lost my tool bar from the Interet, so I can no longer get the internet options button. That option also seems to have disappeared when I access via network and internet connections on the control panel.
Thanks

try running sfc \scannow to see if any system files are missing.
put your XP disc in the drive.
click on START\RUN and type CMD into the address bar and click OK.
At the DOS PROMPT type SFC /SCANNOW. note the space between SFC and /SCANNOW. hit enter.

sorry to hear that, you would be better posting in the xp forum, where some of the more techie members would be better able to help you.
