No windows sound, but can play mp3's
      #388364 - Sat Mar 15 2008 11:26 AM

Hi, this morning i was surfing the internet and had sound. Next thing i know... no sound. Went on youtube played a video and had no sound. So then went into MyDocuments opened up an MP3 and that played fine. So went into control panel, then sounds and tried playing individual sounds of windows but they didnt work. Have gone into device manager got no conflicts so tried updating driver but that didnt work either. any ideas? speakers in right socket and can play saved music files, just dont get any other kind of sound.

Gointo the Control Panel
Find the Icon that says Sound and Audio devices (assuming you have XP)
Open it Up click on the Audio Tapb then On the top section Labelled "soubd Play back" hit the Volume Button and a Panel with sliders will open

Look to the Left most Slider This is the Master Volume It should be Maxed our and also there is a tick box here make sure that is Not Ticked other wise
Nothing! that is the Master Mute tick box

Hows that?

PS If you have a Laptop check also the External volume has not been disturbed Max this out as well.
Had a Lady who did that because she always surfed sitting outdoors
