Lost settings
      #388271 - Fri Mar 14 2008 04:17 PM

Hi gang, you've delivered in the past I can only pray you can help me again.

I turned on my PC this morning to find it had lost many of my previous settings eg. the majority of my desktop icons had disappeared, the internet connection wizard had appeared asking me to set a new connection, the quick launch toolbar is empty etc.

I have many photos on the machine which are vital and for the moment I don't think they are lost. The main thing is the internet and I haven't a scooby on how to set up my sky broadband box again.

My PC runs on Windows 2000 and I have tried following the instructions on http://support.microsoft.com/kb/240363 but to no avail as there was no sysvol folder on my PC. I'm I barking up the wrong tree?

Please help.

Yorica

It sounds to me as if you've somehow logged onto a different user profile. Is that possible?

Sorry if I've confused you, I was quoting from your first post and was curious if you had a different in here.

Turning back to your query, is this a business computer?

It's an old office machine but I use it at home.

CAN ANYONE HELP PLEASE?

I've got my ie working now but it won't re-act to links, it just opens a blank new window. Even if I cut and paste a new link into it, it won't open the page.

Additional although I've lost my settings I still have all my folders. My desktop is almost bank but I have a desktop folders with all my old icons in it, so why can't I see them on the desktop itself.

Additionally I have all my old web favourites in the folders but it is not linking to IE. I've tried importing them but to no avail.

Thanks in advance
