I was on a web site with my web cam going when my Computer froze i tried to get the task manger to close what was running but could not get it up , i then tried to turn off the computer and had to close it down manually , i turned it on almost right away and only got as far as the XP logo and dots on the screen and then a blank screen , turned it off and turned it on and put it in safe mode and did a full scan it found nothing , i then turned it off and on several times i got a page giving me options to run windows as normal in safe mode or safe mode with networking i still got a blank screen when i tried to run as normal , I was going away for 3 days do turned off the electric , the advice i got was my media had failed . also i have learnt the MSN is a open portal for web cams to viruse.s if hooked up to your e-mail account as i was so i put it down to that anyhow to cut this from any longer i came back turned on the computer i got the same page to run as normal and bingo it was up and running but i,m mystified as what happened any ideas suggestion welcome. ps the computer is 6 yrs old but working well

No idea apart from suspecting hard drive.
Look in Devive Manage for any errors around the time it happened:
Right-click My Computer > Manage.
Click the + to the left of Event Viewer, then System.
Look in the right pane for red errors. Also look under Applications.

OK OK I can't go any faster! aaaaaaaaaaaagh!
