Ive hno sound from my speakers

Ive recently installed a new version of xp and i now have no sound, ive tried the speaker cable in the 3 different jack ports and still no sound,

Check to see if your drivers need updating.
From Desktop:- Right Click My Computer/Properties/Hardware/Device manager.
If you have any Yellow ? or ! update them.

bob's right, your drivers won't have been installed, before you reinstalled XP did you back up your drivers?

If not you will need to install them, your video card will need installing too, as others.

No i actually didnt back the drivers up, in device manager there was a yellow question mark against multimedia audio controller so ive updated that driver, but would that include the sound as there is a drop down menu for sound, video and sound controllers(which dont need updating)

Still no sound, ill play some sound and see if i have the jack in the right socket, right ive plugged the jack into one of the sockets and it made a crackle sound as i plugged it in, ive googled for a driver and i may have found it, ill post back if it works or not

I had a thought earlier about some of teh settings via control panel and if they needed to be changed so ive changed them and i now have sound, cheers for your help
