Can anyone help me with advice please? I am recommended to extend my wired network to other rooms in the house using HomePlugs but have no knowledge of them. The instructions are easy enough but I would appreciate comments from any forum member who has used them. I also need to know if I can use them with a Speedtouch 510 router which is what the existing network uses. Any advice would be welcome.

Hello
I've tested quite a few HomePlug devices and would recommend them to someone starting out a new network or extending a wired one. The 85Mbps models would be fine for web surfing and basic file sharing across your network, but not so good for streaming video. Compared to your existing wires you may find it slow, but probably still better than Wi-Fi if there is any distance/walls/floors between the two locations you want to network together. Manufacturers tend to recommend that you use a dedicated wall socket (not an extension lead) to plug the device in. Most HomePlugs attach to the equipment you want to network via an Ethernet socket, so you should have no problem connecting your router in this way, presuming it has a spare Ethernet socket.
