I am looking for an unmetered package - currently using supanet as isp, good service but their package is a little bit expensive. Looking for a monthly package of about £10 per month. Saw advert for giointernet for 50 hours a month for £7.99 - sounds good what are they actually like? I have a 56K modem with good connection speed and am BT line based. I've heard tesco.net are pretty good for £12 per month. Any comments or ideas?? Thanks a lot.

I used to be with Gioserve and had problems. I couldn't always get onto the internet , particularly after 6 o'clock at night , even after 15 re-dials! They finished up removing my dial up number from their system without telling their customers , and to make matters worse they couldn't issue a new dial up number so that I could connect . I must point out at this stage that I used to pay by direct debit monthly. They had no problems taking the money from my bank account . In short I would be a little wary of Gioserve.

I'm with Freeserve, they have a good package - £9.99 for your first 3 months and then £14.99 after that - be aware that this package is 'Anytime' so this a good deal as you were talking about 50 hours a month. They do a reliable service with the connection being 48bps and rarely dropping to 46.6bps and never below that mark. You have unlimited e-mail addresses and room to build a webpage, as well as member benefits, magazines and free stuff. So i recommend Freeserve.

You probably posted the other stuff as unregistered and there seems to be a lot of freeserve stuff being posted as unregistered, looks a little bit spammy to me.

Hi Rocket
Can you clarify that a bit for me. Are you saying that postings you have made have been deleted without your knowledge? If that is the case you need to report the fact to the moderator. Assuming you didn't break any of the site rules then nobody has the right to delete your posts without informing you why.

I may be wrong (it happens, lol) but I think he made several posts on more than one forum that said exactly the same thing. I think that would be the only reason they got deleted, to stop confusion when looking for replies.

Hi Poppy
I see what you mean but surely the FC (or someone) would tell him what they are deleting and why? (Incidentally, I think you're being a little hard on yourself. My wife tells me that she's never wrong and I assume that applies to all women.)

Another point. I can understand people's reluctance to register. I'm often put off by things like that, but it doesn't have to be painful.
For those that don't know, all you have to supply is a user name and your e-mail address. Once you've done that a password will be mailed to you. That took seconds in my own case. Once you've got that, come back and change it to something that makes sense you you. That's all there is to it. Any other information you choose to give is entirely up to you, and you can change it whenever you like.
Hope that encourages a few more people to register. We're growing fast, but there's always room for more.

I agree, Barney. I think people are wary of registering for things because they think it'll increase spam in their inbox. However, I've never received any from registering here.

Barney Rubble, I do not see what I have to gain by registering? I can post and respond to topics without registering.

But you could become a fountain of knowledge! Or a star poster! When you're unregistered you remain as a new user, nobody knows who you are, and if you're giving advice, we wouldn't know whether it was ok to follow that advice. Even if you used the same name without registering, someone could come along and take it. Personally, I'd rather take advice from a trusted, registered user. No offence.

Two quick points: There are lots of benefits to registering - one of the most useful is that you can instantly see how many new posts there are in each topic and each thread. You can also adjust lots of viewing preferences and send private messages.
The other issue is about Rocket's postings. We do not moderate these forums, but where we see a posting that offers nothing to the discussion and simply promotes one company's products (in this case with full pricing details) we reserve the right to treat it as advertising and remove it from the boards. If the posting is by an anonymous user, then this will add to the suspicion that it could be spam. I'm afraid we don't have the resources to ask questions and find out who is genuine and who isn't - sorry Rocket, but as other forum users commented, your postings looked like spam even if they were well intended. There have been a handful of people trying to post "genuine" spam on these boards (get rich quick etc) and hopefully our swift treatment of them will keep these boards clean and enjoyable for everyone else.

Don't worry, this thread is already soooo off-topic that another few posts won't hurt. You are already registered (unless you're using a computer that someone else has already registered on). To customise the site and view your preferences, hit User Options in the navigation bar at the top of the page.
