norton on vista
      #387136 - Wed Mar 05 2008 09:04 PM

My laptop runs vista and I tried to install norton 2003, thinking I could up-date, It only partially installed it then aborted, now I want to un-install rest of NORTON from the control panel and thus the computer, but it refuses to in-install, Any one got any ideas?

Download and run the... Norton Removal Tool..

Once it's removed throw Norton in the bin. There's plenty of free security options that can be used .

jack , going back to your first post , you said that "it only partially installed it then aborted". Usually when programs abort an install , the installer removes any files and entries that it may have successfully installed prior to the abort , before abandoning the install ,so I'm a bit surprised you have anything to remove.

Is this from add/remove programs ? Try booting the pc into... safe mode...and see if you can uninstall from there.
If this option doesn't work it will help if you let me know (a)what happens when you try to remove it in normal mode , and , (b) what happens when you try to open the removal tool .
