eBay charity sellers must donate
      #387044 - Wed Mar 05 2008 10:14 AM

EBay announced today that vendors selling tickets to charity events and concerts will have to make a donation to the organisers and there will be a ban on selling tickets to free events. The company hopes the scheme will raise extra cash for charities. Do you think this is justified or should eBay just leave well enough alone?

It's really about time. One of the things that drives me mad is trying to get tickets to local events (and we get some pretty big acts come to the BIC in Bournemouth) and you get SOLD OUT, even if you try on the day. Within hours the tickets are up for sale on eBay, usually with the disclosure 'we can't make it'. Oh yeah? You only bought them in the last 24 hours!

For charity tickets it is just a sick trade and eBay are perfectly justified in clamping down on not just 'touts' but........well, forum rules surely prevent posting the right words.

Personally I think they should be made to return the tickets to the organisers, but there is an active eBay trade in selling software that actually turns out to be the stuff WebUser forum members are recommending from free sites!

All for making a genuine profit on eBay, but ripping off charities is really underhand.

Rant ending............

I loved my grandmother very much.......and she fetched a good price on eBay.
