Folder names missing
      #386705 - Sun Mar 02 2008 01:40 PM

Hello guys
Hope you can help me. A couple of days ago i sorted out my photos and arranged them in folders. The problem now is that the name of the folder has disappeared. When i place the pointer on the folder, the folder name and its contents is shown. My problem with this is i now have to mouse over three or four folders before i find the one i want. This only happens in the photos file and not in my videos where i can see the names under the folders.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance

Try this:

Open the folder containing your photos > Go to view, and select list.
Again go to View but first depress the Shift Key before selecting Thumbnails.
You now should have the folder names back.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Fusion. I now have the names back. Just a quick question. Do you know why the names went missing as i didn't do anything apart from moving the pics to folders, and why did i have to press the shift key? Just trying to understand.

Thanks again mate

I have no idea why this happened in your circumstances and sometimes it's best not to ask! Computers are mysterious machines at times and do what they want, when they want. The important thing is that we know how to 'adjust' the settings in the future should it happen again.

Holding the shift key down usually toggles between folder/file names and no folder/file names. Just another Microsoft 'eccentricity'.

Pleased to have helped.
