When you have pressed the Print Screen key, open MS Paint, then press the keys Ctrl + V.
Does this paste the image?

Although this isn't a direct solution for your problem using Gadwin Print Screen to capture your screen is a far better way. You can direct the capture to clipboard, print, file or all three.

I could never quite get on with Print Screen, but Gadwin Print Screen works really well and is very easy to use, so, as greysts suggests, give it a try. I think I got Gadwin after seeing a post by greysts a couple of years ago.
