I've recently moved into a house and had BT broadband activated and am currently using a BT wireless router. There is an master socket upstairs with a fairly old extension lead leading to downstairs. We can get phone reception no probs downstairs but no broadband when I plug the ASDL lead from the router to the downstairs extension...so I moved the router upstairs into the master socket and works no problem. Tried other set-ups but can only get broadband from the master socket. The BT help line suggested that the extension lead was faulty. Has anyone got any advice please?
I would say BT are probably right. An analogue voice signal requires very little bandwidth and virtually any old bit of wire will do for an extension. A BB digital signal is far more sensitive and requires a good quality piece of wire. You will need to replace your extension cable and socket if you must have your router downstairs.

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.
