Hi! I received a pop-up message in my browser(Firefox) while I was in a site with Flash games telling me to download Shockwave Player 10.2.0.023. When I clicked on the link given-Adobe Shockwave Player Download Center I found out that the browser supported are Netscape or Netscape-compatible and Internet Explorer. Shall I continue to download it even if I am mostly using Firefox?

Mozilla is based on Netscape architecture (so my Other Half informs me), so should be compatible.

I would check in your add/remove programs to see which version you have installed. If it's older than the version being offered then uninstall it and update to the latest one. Even if you only use Internet Explorer occasionally it's always best to be fully up to date with all add ons / active x's.
P.S. When downloading the Shockwave player you may be given the option to install the Yahoo Companion Toolbar . In fact i seem to remember it's the default setting so if you don't want it installed you'll have to untick the option.

Thanks FifeFlyer for pointing me to the Add/Remove...when I went there I noticed there's already an entry for Adobe Shockwave Player and when I clicked on "Click here for support information" I saw that mine is already 10.2.0.23. I'm just wondering why the pop-up when in fact I already have it? Thanks!

Strange that. Seems a bit like Java , go to the official site and you get offered an older version than the one that's offered elsewhere. I've been using version 10.3.0.24 for a while now. Available... here...if you want it.

Since you've pointed it out I am now confused. Every download link for the Shockwave Player in the Adobe site points to 10.2.0.023 but indeed there's a newer version 10.3.0.24 as pointed by you. Do you know of any explanation for this discrepancy?

Seems you're not the only person asking the question..... Shockwave player forum ( unofficial )..
I guess only Adobe can give a definitive answer.

I have now (new)version 10.3.0.24...I got it from Adobe. It's strange because the link from Adobe Shockwave Download Center with details about (old)version 10.2.0.23 when clicked will give you a Shockwave Installer Slim 2.70MB which when executed will install the (new)version 10.3.0.24. Downplaying by Adobe...as was said in the forum link you've given. I just hope I'll have no problem with the new version because I didn't uninstall version 10.2.0.23 before I executed version 10.3.0.24 installer. Well, sorry for the hasssle...all's well that ends well. Thanks!
