Will a 3gig a month download limit be enough for me to surf the net for a couple of hours a day and use msm messenger an hour or so a day? i will not be downloading songs or films and more importantly will using msm mesenger use same download amount as general surfing the net ie. if i use msm for 1 hour will i use approx the same amount of download amount if i was to surf for 1 hour thanks to all you clever guys who i know will be able to answer this
For that type of net activity 3gb should be plenty. Your total net activity is measured when data is flowing in either direction. When you look at a web site you download the home page to your PC and that gets measured. If all you then do is look at that page but don't click on any links then nothing else gets measured. Similarly using MSN you only use your bandwidth when you send or receive a message. If you receive a message and then do nothing else but read it, no net activity takes place.

Its a good idea to install one of the bandwidth meters that have been mentioned in web user. I have and found my usage wasnt as high as I expected, which means I'm not too worried about opting for a deal that includes download limits
It is too small for me but it depends what you using it for. you would want to be carefull though as some have a rate or anthing between 10p and 80p per mb if you go over.
