I have a dial-up connection with iGoogle as home page (Widows XP Home). I suddenly received a 'fatal error' warning and the computer was switched off and restarted. Since then, although able to connect to the internet through my ISP, I cannot access Google (or anything else). Also I cannot connect to Outlook Express. I have checked whether there is a proper connection and am told by Windows that there is. A fiend advised me to press F10, which I did - nothing - and I also tried System Restore in case I had inadvertantly installed something damaging. That didn't work either. I have run a check with TescoIS with a nil result. Can anyone help please?
Yes I do get the dialling tone and the follow up noise. Since I posted first I have been able on most attempts to connect and get to IE and OE, but still on other occasions I have the same problem. When I dialled up for this current session the problem happened again after connection. I had to disconnect and shut down twice before, on the third connection, I was able to access IE and OE. My dial-up ISP is Tiscali. Is it a connection problem or something else?
