HI,
I've bought a USB SIM card backup device/reader/writer/manager thingumejig. The Chinese/Hong Kong software, that came with it, looks dodgily written. Device cost a few pounds from well known auction site.
I want to back up all my SMS/txt msgs as well as tasks and notes, if possible. My friend also need backups of his SMS messages for a vital court case soon. My mobile data cable and native software that came with the purchase, doesn't permit backup of SMS, tasks or notes. All it seems to do is back up pics, videos, mp3s and contact numbers. The mp3 transfer function for mobile [Sony-Ericsson ?w800i, the orange and white walkman one, that's few years old] is dodgy too. I have trouble transferring mp3 from PC to mobile and actually getting them to play in the proper manner on phone.
The USB SIM card device was said to permit backup/copying/writing/cloning of contact numbers and SMSs. It only appears to copy c10 SMSs. I have probably a hundred or so. I have spoken to a chap who used to work at a well known mobile phone company, he said that only a handful, 10, I think, SMSs are stored on SIM.
Does anyone know of any software/hardware that can allow me to back up dozens of SMSs as well as tasks, notes as well as the contacts numbers? The software that came with the disk doesn't look up to much, upon testing it. It says scanning the SIM may damage it. I tried with old SIM, nothing appeared to be read from the SIM card!
The other sites I have looked at seems to be data recovery related, e.g. http://datadoctor.in/ , which could possibly be of help. The datadoctor software I installed doesn't appear to work either. I think it was this one: http://www.p-dd.biz/undelete-data/sim-card-software.asp . Does anyone know of nay good method of helping me attain the backups required?
Many thanks.
Matt
