Disk Defragmenter

hi one thing i always do once a week is run a antivirus scan & spyware scans etc plus make sure things are upto date but one thing i never bother about is >>Disk Defragmenter<< is this wrong if so how often should i run this application and what is the best way safe mode or normal mode

Depends on how often you install software, applications, change and edit files etc. I'd say it's reasonable to do this every 3 to 4 weeks, again dependent on your usage.

I'd advise you to run it tonight before you go to sleep, it may take some time to run.

PS are you referring to the pre-installed defrag?

If you use vista defrag when you open it it will check to see if it needs to run and reports its findings within a few seconds.

Just checked mine and got this message - File system performance is good you do not need to defrag.

If you are using XP try diskeeperlite its free and tells you when it needs to run to keep the hard disk performing at its best.

hi mouse i dont really download much software change & edit files .yea a was on about the defrag on windows xp built in one

Ive been using this >>Click<< for quiet a while now on my computers and it does just what it says on the tin.
Install and forget and it has made a difference.
