Press a key to reboot Intel UNDI, PXE-2.0.(build082) copyright(c)1997-2000 Intel Corporation For Realtek RTL8139(x)/8130/810X PCI Fast Enternet Controller v2.13(020326) CLIENT MAC ADDR:00 14 85 65 E4 C4: GUID:300C5371-F26C-DA11-8000-4E45435F4349 PXE-E53 No boot filename received PXE-M0F: exiting PXE ROM
this then repeats one more time and ends with
Disk boot failure, insert system disk and press enter
I am able to access BIOS and no further Cannot enter recovery system so decided to clean reinstal using recovery discs, reinstalled but on boot up again i get same msg. pc running widows media centre with 1GB of memory connected to D-Link router. If anyone can help I would be grateful

When you re-installed did you delete all existing partitions and then create a new one? If not what process did you follow and what happened at the end? Did Windows install properly?

I used the Packard Bell recovery discs to reinstall the option I chose (windows and smart restore)and restarted PC as instructed but cannot get pass setup screen from where you can access BIOS. So dont know if windows reinstalled.

In that case I would guess it hasn't worked. I presume the Smart Restore option allows you to keep all your existing data, is that right? I have to say it sounds as if your hard disk has got a major fault. What other options do you get with a Packard Bell restore?

I think smart restore allows you to restore windows/hardware or software to factory settings from hidden partition on hard drive without using discs. Also i should of been able to access recovery program by pressing F12 just after bootup but been unable to get that far as load error appears.

The original error messages in your first post mean that the PC is trying to boot from three different places (1) the CD (2) the network drive and (3) the hard disk. 1 and 2 won't work and 3 is damaged. If the restore files are on the hard disk and the hard disk is damaged we've arrived at a 'chicken & egg' impasse. Any chance you can borrow a Windows XP CD and try the install with that? If it works you can use your own Windows key (the one on a sticker on the PC) when asked to put it in.

I assume that doesn't work any more, else you wouldn't be here!

When it had finished copying files to the hard disk, what happened next?

So the re-install isn't working. As I said earlier, can you borrow a Windows CD?
