Hello out there!
I have a problem that wouldn't seem unusual - but as yet no one has come up with any real solution. I use rewritable cd-rw discs for data storage. There is data on my disc at the moment(about a quarter of a disc is used up - so plenty of room to add or make changes) - however, Nero shows the disc as blank, BUT when I go to add data on the disc it is saying the disc has data on it and it has to be erased first and will not allow any more data to be added. How mad is that? This means I have to erase and burn a rewritable disc from scratch everytime I want to make tiny data amendments. I even tried a dvd-rw, but it's just the same. This is really odd, as it was OK until about a week ago, nothing has been installed or uninstalled that could have corrupted the prog. I've even done a thorough removal of Nero and a clean install to see if it might make any difference, but it hasn't. I've tried opening and closing the burner drawer - no change. This happened to me in Nero 7 and has continued in Nero 8. **I think I should mention that it does burn music perfectly without a problem.
Anyone else experienced or experiencing the same? Is there a solution that I am overlooking perhaps?
Thanx in advance for any help.

Do you have Nero InCD installed? Do you use Nero Burning ROM or Smart Start to burn your CDs?

Thanx for replying,
I have always used Nero Start-Smart to burn cd's (Data & Music) without a problem. It should be able to handle data burning as it is one of the main options. Strange that it should decide in the last week that it doesn't recognize data it burnt itself. InCD is not present in the Nero programme folders.

You won't find InCD in the folder, it's normally installed as a startup option. Can you go to Start, Run, type in MSCONFIG and click OK. Have a look in the Startup list and see if you've got anything related to Nero in it.

No - there are no Nero related services/progs in start up.

As a matter of interest have you tried using CD-Rs instead of CD-RWs? I appreciate you won't be able to reuse the CD once it's full but I would like to know what happens when you try.

Sorry to be so slow at getting back. It behaved normally with CD-r's. It's just the re-writable CD's & DVD's it has a problem with. Anyway - to update you; I got so frustrated that I ended up uninstalling Nero totally (inlcuding ALL registry keys in Ahead and everything in the folders on the desktop etc, then cleaned the registry with CCleaner) - I made sure every shred of it was gone. The I did a fresh install of Nero 7 Ultra - and hey presto, everything is fine again.......for how long I can't say, because it decides to do this randomly. I'm sure it is a known issue because I am not alone (having Googled the problem). If I hear of a fix, I'll post back here again.
Thanx for your responses.
