Accessing Post Office free webspace.
      #383009 - Tue Feb 05 2008 04:31 PM

Is anyone using Post office Broadband & used their free webspace yet?

My Dad has uploaded a website to his, the files have uploaded OK and are where they should be. When you type the web address in as given on the Post office info page you just get a URL not found on server message.

He has phoned them and they said they were having difficulty with this & someone is working on it, but it's been a week or so now. Everything else is working fine, & I just wondered if anyone else was having the same trouble?

I've been a broad band customer since 19 Feb; but no email service, they tell me that they are having trouble with their servers. It's been over eight weeks now and I've had to open an internet email account with google.

They told my Dad this for a few weeks but he persisted with them. He had trouble with his email at first, setting up his POP3 server. We tried several times to get it working but they had given him the wrong temporary password when we checked it out. To be fair we got right through to the help line and they sorted that there & then.

Are you having trouble accessing your webmail with Post office. This is how we found out the temporary password they had gave us was wrong, we were getting an error message when we entered it.

We set his webspace up & that wouldn't work with the domain name he was given either. Every time he rang them they told him the same as you have been told "server trouble & technicians are working on it". It turned out the domain name was wrong too in the end. His user name he was given was separated with a dot whereas it should have been one of these ~ (tilde or squiggley hyphen things).

What programme do you use for your email, Outlook Express, or Thunderbird? I have the settings for Post office servers if you do so you can check them.

He has had no other trouble with the service after we sorted this out.
