Why Aren't WebUser Reporting On EBay?
      #382836 - Sun Feb 03 2008 10:54 PM

I'm just curious.

Massive changes announced on eBay. EBay Express UK will go, sellers will no longer be allowed to leave negative are just the headlines, but WebUser report one story that comes straight off the eBay PR machine.

A few days ago eBay also announced it will be making listings VAT Inclusive - basically some people who sell enough to pay and charge VAT were luring you in with cheap deals only to smack VAT on the invoice. They will no longer be able to do that.

As I have said in other posts I am quite 'happy' with the changes. The ' ' is because personally when things are going well I don't like change. BUT the last time eBay made changes my business doubled so I look for the good in the bad and I can see potential for what I do.

Now they will reward sellers with good Detailed Seller Ratings and I should be one of those that benefits. Can't leave negative on a bad buyer? Who cares? I will block them and issue an Unpaid Item Strike as I always do - far more effective.

But I am curious that WebUser seems not to be reporting anything other than the 'eBay line' - or can someone point out the stories I have missed?

This is the only eBay story in recent weeks:

Sorry, dudes, but that is a PR Release. I know, I wrote them when I worked in PR. Where is the old style WebUser story about the changes? Surely eBay are not too big to challenge?

Anyway, the usual eBay disgruntled are proposing a boycott on 18th to 25th Feb:

Good luck to them I say. I will be listing as normal. Got a mortgage to pay and kids to feed.............

BBC reported yesterday on the removal of Seller Feedback options, The Mail today. WebUser? Any comments?

8th February - finally a report.

Slow news day?

Sorry, but this is highly disappointing from a respected magazine.

I was just curious that effectively the biggest site on the web announces enormous changes, another 'revolt' is planned (indeed US users are going to stop listing for a week in protest), eBay cancels the Express arm of its business (something it launched with a great fanfare and quite a bit of WebUser coverage) and yet nothing reported other than the standard eBay gloss of a PR release........

Whether this matter actually affected other readers, I am fairly sure many of them would be very interested. There are three threads alone on the fact Sellers won't be allowed to leave anything but Positive feedback (although the other two are in the Open Forum for some reason) - and this alone is national news. No, international.

Think WU missed out on a big opp to be ahead of the pack.
