Tomorrow I'm going to buy a laptop. My brother works for Currys so gets 10% off for friends and family in all DSG stores - PCWorld, Currys & Dixons, so I am limiting my choice to those places. Not just for the 10% off,but because I don't have time to wait for a Dell to arrive, and my current laptop is Dell and I wouldn't use them again and because I know he'll get me a good deal on the finance end of things. Also, living in Northern Ireland, often the amount I would save buying online is canceled out by the fact I have to pay extra postage for not living on mainland UK.
I want to spend about £400, so I am shopping for laptops about £450 advertised(minus his discount gives us about £400) and have come up with the following - I just don't know which is best! So will you lot do the honours and guide me?
I have about 50GB of music and pictures and would use the odd heavy program like Photoshop and do some recordings on it as I'm a musician. I also use the laptop as a webdisk for my website so it would need to be reliable! I don't go for names,I go for whatever is the most advanced, for the best price. Of this list, the current favourite is the Advent - what do you think?
PHILIPS 15NB5700
TOSHIBA A210-17I
ADVENT 9915W COMPAQ V6630EM
I am open to a completely leftfield suggestion of a desktop with higher spec than all these, but for £400 (£360 with my discount) so I can factor in a new battery and lead for my current laptop. But again, it's gotta be in one of the DSG shops. Hope you can advise me before Monday!
