You can create the 6 boot disks to laod the XP setup, which you can use to run the Recovery Console.

I'm not sure what you mean by using Combo Fix. The only time I've seen that used is to remove spyware.

Our Hijack This experts use ComboFix for a variety of things but particularly for finding and removing malware. Because there is a virus in the wild that attacks the Master Boot Record and it can only be fixed by running FIXMBR from within the Recovery Console, they have adapted ComboFix to take the download files from Microsoft that Richie refers to and then slipstream them into Combofix so that the Recovery Console is installed as part of the overall malware fix.
ComboFix is a very powerful tool and should never be used without advice from our HJT experts. It also has built into it a timer that will only allow the very latest version to work so copying the file from someone else's HJT fix won't work. It certainly should not be used simply to install the Recovery Console.
