Enabling WiFi in XP Pro
      #382595 - Sat Feb 02 2008 02:45 PM

I have recently replaced my Vista HDD with a new one loaded with Win XP Pro ('cos Vista kept falling over). Laptop is a Tosh Equium less than 6 months old with XP Pro and 1 gig RAM.
Prob is that in order to connect to my Orange wireless system I have to plug the Orange adaptor into my USB port - but Tosh only fitted 3 ports and one is right next to where the mouse goes! I have switched on the internal WiFi but can't seem to access it from any of the Wizards. (It worked fine on Vista). Any ideas on how I can get to set it up please?
I have another problem where the comp can't see the soundcard - so I'm wondering if just putting in a new HDD and then loading XP was the correct thing to do. Maybe the drivers aren't installed for the WiFi and soundcard? I have a recovery CD for the Tosh - but it's got Vista on it (as well as the drivers I expect although there isn't a Drivers folder on it).

The drivers won't have installed.

See if you can find XP drivers on the Toshiba website, although they may not be available if they only distributed that model with Vista installed.

To check which ones you need to find, go to Device Manager and look for yellow question marks.

Thankyou RitchieP,
Found the soundcard and WiFi drivers - now installed and working! Trouble is there seems to be hundreds of the ruddy things on the website - so I'll slowly work my way through them.
Problem resolved - cheers.
