ClvActv Error in Nikon Picture Project
      #382475 - Fri Feb 01 2008 05:05 PM

I have three XP-Pro machines, all with latest updates.
I have installed Nikon Picture Project successfully on two of them. On the third machine a box pops up entitled ClvActv, contents say 'Initialize file not found'.
I am using the manufacturer's CD.
I have searched the web for ClvActv and it does not appear to exist anywhere (except on my machine).
I have contacted Nikon and Microsoft and neither have any suggestions.
If any geniuses out there could enlighten me I would be ever so grateful.
Many thanks
JohnG

Have you tried Booting your 3rd System in Safe Mode and retrying the installation?

Thanks for replying.
Yes I have tried in safe mode with same result.
I have just located several instances of clvactv.exe in the setup.inx file but still no further.

Cheers

Hi,

I had exactly the same problem, but I was trying to install the latest version of ViewNX. What I did to fix it was to change the "Environment Variable" for TMP files to point C:\Temp instead of the default %USERPROFILE%\LOCAL SETTINGS\TEMP location. To change the Environment Variable, right mouse "My Computer" click "Properties", click the "Advanced" tab and click on the "Environment Variables" button located on the bottom of that screen. On the top pane click on the TMP variable and click the "Edit" button to change the location. You can leave the other TEMP variable alone if you wish.

Hope that helps you!

Fonger
