I have my desktop running on talktalk broadband adsl,is it possible to connect a laptop to a wireless network,if i run another phoneline from the main phone connection and connect a wireless router just for the laptop.I want to leave the desktop as it is for now because when that go's i will get another laptop.

No it isn't. If you want to connect more than one PC to an ADSL line you will need to buy a modem/router.
