Laptop display going dim
      #381785 - Mon Jan 28 2008 07:59 AM

Hi,

New to this forum so hope this is the right place for this post.

Acer 5210 laptop wth W XP home, 18months old.

Recently a second acer e-power icon appeared in my task bar; now after running for some time ok the display goes dim; looking at the display brightness it has turned itself down to 0 & the CPU speed to low too. Resetting works for perhaps half a second then it goes down again.

I have tried a system restore but these don't work due to System Distribution Service 3.0 being in place & preventing restore.

Are these linked??

Thinking of doing either a repair or formating C. I have My documents on D drive partition. Presumably dong a repair or format of C wont affect D???

Thanks in anticipation.

I can only find one reference to System Distribution Service on Google and I'm not convinced that is relevant. If your PC has something installed that is blocking a System Restore then I would guess it's got something horribly wrong. I would either try our Hijack This forum or do as you say, format C: and start over. No, the D: drive won't be affected.

Well, if forty-eight million, two hundred thousand, seven hundred and one people died I'd be Queen.
