LLu + Broadband Speed
      #381444 - Fri Jan 25 2008 07:36 PM

In general do you get more speed from a LLU connection than with a bog standard BT connection.

The reason I ask is that my exchange is quoted as 1mb max and this is what I get. I am with a non LLU ISP. If I went LLU eg Sky etc, would I get more speed than my current 1mb?

Have a look at this site first of all to see if the LLU equipment has been installed in your exchange. If it has, the next step is to enter you t/p number and post code here to see what's available.

Thanks for that.

I've gone through and find that my exchange wil give me 1mb on ADSL and between 2and 4 mb on ADSL2.

The site doesn't mention ADSL2 but ADSL max. Are they one and the same?

My exchange is LLU for a few ISP eg Sky, Tiscali, Talk Talk.

But , from what I understand the LLU is only at the exchange. I am still left with the old BT copper wire for 3.2 km to my house.

The 64,000 dollar question - Will I get more speed if I migrate to an LLU ISP?

I'm not sure where you got ADSL2 from. I can't see anything on that site that mentions it. Or do you mean ADSL (2mb)?

You might but as you say 3.2km of copper wire ain't gonna help one bit.

The ADSL2 and the 2-4mb was obtained from dslzone website. I put in my attenuation figure and that it was it said.

But the main point which I think you have answered is that it matters not one tot what's in the exchange, I am still reliant on 3.2km of old copper wire.

It just grates on me when it appears everyone, well not quite, is getting some good speeds when in this little part of South Wales we are still cranking up to a max of 1mb
